BBQ Spicy Prawns

Cooked right, prawns are delicious. Over cooked and they will be rubbery which is one of the reasons why people do not like prawns. Prawns do not take long to cook and are the perfect starter when starting off a BBQ. Spiced with Nico’s Polle Polle spice mix, these are quick and taste amazing!

  • 2pounds King Prawns – peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon Nico’s Polle Polle Spice mix
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 tablespoon fresh Lemon Juice
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil

First things first, if you plan on cooking the prawns using bamboo skewers, don’t forget to soak them first. Or you could just use a Grill RackIf you want to make perfect prawns, do not marinade them longer than 20 minutes. The texture will change and with prawns, we’re lucky it takes in so much flavour so quickly. If you haven’t already, peel and devein the prawns – not sure how to, watch Gordon Ramsay show you how to prepare prawns.> >

Mix the oil, lemon juice, Nico’s Polle Polle Spice Mix and garlic then place the prawns in there to soak up all the flavours. Make sure the charcoal is the right temperature on the BBQ before placing the prawns either on the grill rack or skewers. Cook for for 6-8 minutes turning half way using the remaining marinade to brush over the prawns whilst cooking.

Prawns are a great source of protein and very low in fat although they are high in cholesterol. Squeeze over fresh lemon and serve with a melody of salads.
