Nico's Polle Polle Tava Fish
A Kenyan inspired dish, Tava Fish is popular amongst many. a ‘tava’ is a skillet of frying pan and a lot of Asians will have this in their kitchen to cook dry dishes like this fish. It is basically a pan fried fish dish so we recommend a firm fish, like tilapia but you can use cod or any other fish fillet that you prefer.
Ingredients:
- 2 teaspoons Nico’s Polle Polle© Spice Mix
- 1 teaspoon Ginger paste
- ½ teaspoon Garlic paste
- 2 fillets of Tilapia or any other fish
- 1 teaspoon Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
- Butter for frying
- Coriander
- Lemon
Method:
In a bowl mix the Nico’s Polle Polle© Spice Mix, ginger, garlic, ajwain. Rub over the fish fillets and leave to marinate for a minimum of 3 hours. If you can, marinate the day before to get the full flavours of the aromatic spices in our Nico’s Polle Polle© Spice Mix. In a frying pan, add the butter and melt and add the fish. Shallow fry on a low heat for approximately 15 minutes. Garnish with coriander and a wedge of lemon.
